My make-up artistry skills have been fine-tuned through education with MAC Cosmetics and Kett Cosmetics and have taken various courses at The Makeup Shop. Maryann

Maryann began her hairdressing career by attending Capri Institute of Hair Design while a senior in high school in 1975. She attended part time in the evenings hoping to fall into her career once she graduated from high school in 1976. While in beauty school she met her first husband and together they opened their own salon, Carmelo's Hair Design in Oakland NJ. Having her first child, Michelle. They managed and worked hard together to get the business off the ground, but once it was established she left hairdressing for a while to become a stay at home mom. She still continued to do clients in her parents home, living there while their home was being built. During this time Maryann was involved with the business end of the salon doing the bookeeping and payroll. When Michelle's vision of Pink Comb became reality she was delighted when asked to be a part or her daughters dream.
You will find Maryann on Saturdays, doing anything from answering phones, to cleaning, to doing laundry. to even helping out with a manicure or pedicue when needed. Her biggest accomplishment however is her 3 beautiful, brilliant, smart daughters, who have lived out all of the dreams that she never got to do herself, but is enjoying every minute of the journey.

What I do at pink comb:
Make-up for all and any occasion!
My Education:
I went to cosmetology school during high school because I knew out of the womb I wanted to be a make-up artist! After I received my cosmetology license, I went on to classes in New York City at Toni&Guy (the Bedhead and Catwalk company) for extra hair and make-up training. About 6 classes for each, in total.
My experience in the industry:
Starting from when I was 14, I've been shampooing in salons, just to get my foot in the door and to learn as much as I can from being in the background! Then, when I graduated high school and earned my cosmetology license, I start doing hair and make-up in a salon with my first, very own chair! Since then, I've done bridal make-up, make-up for any and all occasions, make-up for fashion shows, make-up for photoshoots and also some hair for all of the above! I can't believe it's been almost 10 years already since I started in this industry!
Favorite part of the beauty business:
My job is to #1- make people look beautiful, #2- make people feel beautiful, #3- make someone's day special, and lastly, to make everyone enjoy the experience! Life doesn't get any more fun than that!
Favorite Color:
I love any jewel toned color…or any color that truly compliments one's skin. Any color can be beautiful. "The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good on you." Coco Chanel says it best!
Favorite Food:
Cupcakes & ice cream beat out any kind of meal!
